I'm just kidding. I'm leaving my job and traveling the world by myself for a year; there are no rules.
However, while planning the outline of the trip, I did come up with a few "guidelines" to help me focus on what was really important to me, while not turning the journey into a 12-month box-checking quest (I'm putting these here to remind myself as much as for your benefit).

- Focus on places I haven’t been before, and spend more time in places I’m not likely to go again.
- Be flexible. If I want to stay, I should stay. If I want to go, I should give it another day first.
- Visit every continent (Australia, Asia, India, Europe, South America, Antarctica, North America).
- Set foot in Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Southern Ocean, Arctic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean Sea, and any other body of water I can.
- Make friends in other countries.
- Take every form of transportation I can.
